Hello Friendly Person:

Just some words of wisdom from Yogi Berra to share with you today:

“You’d better be careful if you don’t know where you’re going, or you might not get there.”

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS

Saturday, Dec 6th & 7th – Tamo Design at Mission Bazaar – during the day!
In case you didn’t already know, Tamo (from Angles of Bass) is more than a talented DJ, she’s also a kick ass fashion designer. And over the next few weeks you can find her and her fashion at a bunch of local trunk shows including the massive Mission Bazaar at the Armory this weekend. Check out her website for pictures of her creations and go to the events page to see where you can find her.

Friday, Dec 12th & Saturday, Dec 13th – Los Comicos Super Hilariosos
Wrist Deep Productions puts on some of the most creative, hilarious, I’m-very-uncomfortable-with-what-was-just-said-on-stage-so-why-am-I-laughing? comedy extravaganzas Denver has ever seen.

There’s the Squire Lounge open mic night every Tuesday, voted Best Comedy Night in 2005 and 2007 by the Village Voice’s Westword Newspaper and Best Comedy Night by readers in 2006. Straight up.

For two nights only, Wrist Deep Productions is bringing their critically acclaimed Los Comicos Super Hilariosos, a monthly comedy smack-down featuring local Denver favorites and visiting comedians, to Piano Fights Studio250 at the Off Market Theater. This show combines stand-up, videos, and sketch comedy.

Pulling together the talents of Greg Baumhauer, Adam Cayton-Holland, Ben Roy and Jim Hickox (all regular feature and headliner acts at the world famous Denver Comedy Works), Wrist Deep is the type of production company that believes comedy is best served with cheap beer and lots of friends.

Shipshape!

Posted by PK Tue, 21 Oct 2008 16:47:00 GMT

I feel like I’ve basically moved to Treasure Island… which isn’t such a bad thing, the view is amazing, there’s plenty of room, and I know all my neighbors. The one downside I’ve found is that there is no place to buy a beer…. or I should say was… cause we officially took care of that problem today, so on November 1st you can look forward to the drink of your choice! So yeah, things are moving along.

Speaking of moving, we’ve secured parking for 500 cars for the event, but please consider carpooling, taking Muni from the Transbay Terminal, a taxi, or our free shuttle from Civic Center, particularly from an ecological and safety perspective.

The haunted house is becoming frighteningly real and the GhostShip itself has appeared like a mirage in the night…. the hanger is already a sight to be seen and you won’t believe the soundsystems we’ve lined up for the 3 rooms…

We can’t wait, and neither should you, buy your tickets now at groovetickets and avoid any hassles at the door and breeze right in….

Decom & GhostShip Update

Posted by PK Thu, 16 Oct 2008 07:46:00 GMT

Howdy y’all!

Big thanks to all of you who came out to Decompression and rocked it out with us! There is a reason its one of our favorite events each year and if you were there on Sunday then you know why! Extra special thanks to Schlomo, Danny, Ryan et.al. for allowing Mr. Janky to fill in for the Unimog; which is currently in “drydock” preparing for GhostShip, readying her cannons of boom for maximum mayhem! But Mr. Janky looked oh so swanky at Decom; with the new RIPE sign (props to Bluekoosh & team!) and put out such a such a good time that there was no way we could not have him join the GhostShip armada (along with other Decom fave: the Dust City Diner!)
And very special thanks to our “funky” special guest “era benissimo”!

The GhostShip is taking shape…. We’ve got 3 rooms of sound, with a system for the main room that we can’t even believe ourselves… an ever increasing anount of art, an amazing haunted house and tons of rooms for lounging, maxin’ and relaxing…. we’re working round the clock on this one, which means an epic event not to be missed….

A lot of peeps have been asking about transport to the island…. here’s your options: carpooling (we’ve got space for approximately 500 cars), taxis (especially great for going to the Island, and we’ll be letting the cab companies know to expect pick-ups for the way home), the Muni 108 which runs every 40 minutes from the TransBay terminal all night, the free bio-diesel GhostShip Express hourly from Civic Center Plaza. We’d like to encourage responsible behaviour from both an ecological and safety perspective…

Discount pre-sales are available now at Groovetickets.com!

Undecideds, Obamathon, Beats for Boobs, Ghostships and more

Posted by 8Ball Wed, 08 Oct 2008 11:21:00 GMT

Hello Friendly Person:

I don’t get Undecideds. Probably because in most things I like having 2 speeds: On, off.

Ok, let’s pretend the Election is a big wild ass house party, like at the end of Weird Science, and instead of casting votes we’re really all just trying to get laid.

Some people show up to the party with a date, so they already know who they’re going home with—in fact these people could’ve just skipped the party completely and stayed home with thighs covering their ears.

There are others who show up without knowing exactly who they want to nail, but they’ve got a type. Maybe they’ve got yellow fever and they go for Asians or Gaysians, or maybe love ass. Maybe they go gooey for bangs and big sunglasses, or hairy chests and ironic beards. Whatever; the point is they know what they like, and when they see it they all over it like gravy on a biscuit.

Some people don’t have a type, they like to keep their options real wide. Let’s say they’re pansexual, and everyone at the party is looking good. This is a blessing and a curse, because they see a little sumthin-sumthin worth trying in just about everyone at the party. But let’s say these happy, adventurous people are also pragmatic, and around midnight when thepickins are at risk of thinning out, they’ll do a couple shots of tequila and hop on the next sweet thing that doesn’t move faster than they do. If it doesn’t end up working out, worst case scenario is they come back (in 4 years) and try for someone new and friskier.

But then there are people who can’t make up their fucking minds. Maybe they’re like our pansexuals – except instead of everyone at the party looking Hot, to them everyone is looking really, really Not. The party would be a lot more fun for these people if they’d drink some of that tequila. Their options would certainly start looking better. Or maybe the problem is—like the dummies on bad dating reality shows are always saying – these people are waiting for what they think of as “the complete package.” And wouldn’t that be nice? But while they’re waiting for that complete package to materialize, time’sawasting and soon the party will be over.

These people who stand around while everyone else is hooking up around them are the Electoral Undecideds. But the problem is, unlike in the party metaphor, when they don’t make the right decision everyone gets fucked.
