This year’s temple at Burning Man is being designed by Space Cowboy PK together with Jess Hobbs and Rebecca Anders of Flaming Lotus Girl and Fishbug fame. Drawing its inspiration from both the urban canyon and natural ones, the Temple of Flux rises from the playa floor as a series of graceful masses. A new take on a Burning Man tradition, this year’s temple will be one of the largest projects ever conceived for the playa. The Temple of Flux will simultaneously embrace and challenge you, not to mention burn like nothing before it. The Temple of FLUX is being assembled by an unusually broad community of folks and we hope you can join in support.

With more of everything, comes more cost, so we are actually having a fundraiser for our little lady this year at our favorite watering hole, Shine. Every year we ask for a suggested donation of $20. This year, there is a $250 entry fee – which is new – they are still cracking down on alcohol and even trying to curtail our favorite party spot – but dont worry – we are going to take that bridge – somehow, some way.   Also, if you cant make event or would prefer to paypal, please send $20 or whatever you can afford via paypal to clarkhamon@gmail.com. (This will also help fund the after-party at Spoon’s house that has grown to epic proportions as well.)

### NEW MUSIC ###

The latest installment of the RIPEcast features yours’ truly—8ball! Here’s the blurb:

“I’m one of just a few idiots who’ve been with The Space Cowboys since the beginning, and that includes the first Breakfast of Champions party back in the olden days. For the most part, all the parties blur together for me, but that’s nice in a way because it feels like all the highlights are from one big epic event. This last BoC was the 10th anniversary, and that meant it was an important landmark for me—it meant that I’ve officially been doing this shit way too fucking long. I won’t lie, I’ve talked about retiring my headphones several times over the last couple years, but then one of our big events rolls around, like BoC, and I think to myself, “Retire from this? You’re fucking nuts!”

“My usual M.O. is to bring a bunch of music and then just play to the party’s vibe. But for BoC I knew I’d be playing early, before outside was open. There’s no such thing as a warm up set at BoC. As Kapt’n Kirk put it, “People who show up early expect to have their asses handed to them from the very beginning.” So I knew I had to come in with a crushing set (I crush you!). I also wanted to come in with a bunch of different styles, and even different tempos. I’m kinda ADD (as if you hadn’t noticed), and when I play I like to run through different themes and flavors, and in this case that meant pulling in rock, hip hop, classic rave, and some funny shit Henry Rollins said that makes me laugh every time I hear it (see: track 17 – AC Slater’s Play The Record Again)”. – 8Ball
