Ghostship countdown!!

Posted by Andrea Thu, 23 Oct 2008 09:58:00 GMT

Hello Space Cowboy friends, followers, family & freaks!

Happy spooky season to you all. And by spooky I don’t just mean Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, or critical mass. Sarah freaking Palin! Yes, she is an easy target and easier Halloween costume. Pink camo or $150K Saks? Vote already people!! Early, absentee, whatever you have to do. Things are looking positively blue in this state, but don’t forget the poor suckers in Ohio, Florida & Pennsylvania. There is even an Obama app for your iphone that sorts your contacts by swing states. I love California! And I love San Francisco. And you know what I love more that CA & SF! The Space Cowboys!!

I am so proud to tell you about the work and love that is going into the GHOSTSHIP party next week.

On November 1st at 10pm you will all be able to climb aboard. After slinking through our Haunted House and bouncing off the padded room and leaping over the magic mushrooms, join us as our ship sets sail for a non-stop night in the middle of the bay. Treasure Island is the perfect host for our night of fun and merriment.

With over 25,000 square feet of space to fill, we invited a few friends to bring their work. The Flaming Lotus Girls, the Steam Punk Treehouse folks, THERM, Michael Christian, Orion Fredricks, Liam McNamera, and the Department of Spontaneous Combustion are working away to get it up and set it up for you to enjoy.

We will have art cars abound! The Space Cowboy’s Unimog is the captain of our ship, with Martha as her dainty skipper. The Disco Limo and Mr. Janky bus will surround the Mog in true Hoe Down style, with the Gansesh bus from the Garage Mahal camp and the Covered Wagon Jimmy from the Manyfest Destiny camp. Bring your cameras for all the flash poses you’ve always wanted to take in front of the Limo! And grab a seat at the Dust City Diner if you can. I heard the waiting list is a killer!!!

There will be three rooms of sound with the best DJ talent this city has to offer. No international superstars can match the talent and dedication of the music slingers we have lined up. Space Cowboys, The Deep End, House of Lotus, Brass Tax, SEISMIC…all synonymous with high quality music and packed San Francisco dance floors.

All I can say is get their early to reserve your dance floor space.
How do you get to Treasure Island? Have you lived in SF for 8 years and never stopped off to check the views? SHAME ON YOU!
We make it easy for you. You can drive – carpool, no less. We have a large parking lot that we hope you will file into nicely and accurately.
You can take a bus! A biodiesel shuttle will pick up GHOSTSHIPPERS on the corner of Larkin & Grove and bring you to the front door of GHOSTSHIP. Free! Shuttle runs from 10:30-4:30 and is first come first serve.
The Muni 108 bus runs every 45 MINUTES starting at 9:30PM in from the transbay terminal, and buses run all night back into the city.
We are also letting the taxi companies know that there will be frolicking fares on the island, so be kind to your drivers!

PRESALE TICKETS are on sale for $15 at Groovetickets. We will be raising presales to $17 on Saturday October 25th, and after that allotment is gone they will be sold for $20. In costume at the door, admission is $20. Without costume (and with much heckling) admission is $30. We have a huge ship to float, if you catch my drift.

Hope to see you next week!

xx
Andrea

Shipshape!

I feel like I’ve basically moved to Treasure Island… which isn’t such a bad thing, the view is amazing, there’s plenty of room, and I know all my neighbors. The one downside I’ve found is that there is no place to buy a beer…. or I should say was… cause we officially took care of that problem today, so on November 1st you can look forward to the drink of your choice! So yeah, things are moving along.

Speaking of moving, we’ve secured parking for 500 cars for the event, but please consider carpooling, taking Muni from the Transbay Terminal, a taxi, or our free shuttle from Civic Center, particularly from an ecological and safety perspective.

The haunted house is becoming frighteningly real and the GhostShip itself has appeared like a mirage in the night…. the hanger is already a sight to be seen and you won’t believe the soundsystems we’ve lined up for the 3 rooms…

We can’t wait, and neither should you, buy your tickets now at groovetickets and avoid any hassles at the door and breeze right in….

Decom & GhostShip Update

Posted by PK Thu, 16 Oct 2008 07:46:00 GMT

Howdy y’all!

Big thanks to all of you who came out to Decompression and rocked it out with us! There is a reason its one of our favorite events each year and if you were there on Sunday then you know why! Extra special thanks to Schlomo, Danny, Ryan et.al. for allowing Mr. Janky to fill in for the Unimog; which is currently in “drydock” preparing for GhostShip, readying her cannons of boom for maximum mayhem! But Mr. Janky looked oh so swanky at Decom; with the new RIPE sign (props to Bluekoosh & team!) and put out such a such a good time that there was no way we could not have him join the GhostShip armada (along with other Decom fave: the Dust City Diner!)
And very special thanks to our “funky” special guest “era benissimo”!

The GhostShip is taking shape…. We’ve got 3 rooms of sound, with a system for the main room that we can’t even believe ourselves… an ever increasing anount of art, an amazing haunted house and tons of rooms for lounging, maxin’ and relaxing…. we’re working round the clock on this one, which means an epic event not to be missed….

A lot of peeps have been asking about transport to the island…. here’s your options: carpooling (we’ve got space for approximately 500 cars), taxis (especially great for going to the Island, and we’ll be letting the cab companies know to expect pick-ups for the way home), the Muni 108 which runs every 40 minutes from the TransBay terminal all night, the free bio-diesel GhostShip Express hourly from Civic Center Plaza. We’d like to encourage responsible behaviour from both an ecological and safety perspective…

Discount pre-sales are available now at Groovetickets.com!
